Chairman's Charity - The K Club for Francis House
The Animal Sanctuary
This year Area 2 will be supporting The Animal Sanctuary (Humane Education Society) in Wilmslow. The Charity was selected by Wilmslow Ladies Circle not just for the adorable animals but more importantly for the work that charity does reaching far beyond its local community.
The Animal Sanctuary works with disadvantaged individuals to educate self worth and the respect of others. Developing compassion is an essential part of any community and we are delighted to be supporting a charity that offers a safe place for animals to heal and for individuals to educate themselves.
A charity looking for our support.
Looking for inspiration?Robin Tatler has been in contact regarding the Homeless World Cup. You can contact Robin via email robin@homelessworldcup.org
Here is some information that you may find useful?
The Homeless World Cup Foundation uses football to reach and support
more than 25,000 homeless and marginalised people every year in 60
countries all over the world.
The UN reports that there are 1 billion homeless people in the world.
The Homeless World Cup exists to end this, so we all have a home, a
basic human need.
We use football as a trigger to inspire and energise people who are homeless to change their own lives. Every year since 2003 teams of homeless and excluded people from all over the world have taken part in the Homeless World Cup - a once in a lifetime opportunity to represent their country and change their lives forever.
In December 2008, 56 teams and 500 players took part in the 6th Homeless World Cup in Melbourne, Australia and in September this
year the event will take place in Milan.

Area 2 supports the K Club for Francis House
Charlotte has chosen to support Francis House as her charity for this year.Like all things, Francis House Hospice has to expand and grow to reach out and try to meet the needs of more families.
Their needs are significant.
They are currently aiming to expand and provide a new facility for Francis House. This project will be a fitting tribute dedicated to Kirsty Howard.
Francis House desperately needs to be able to offer more support for families of children with short life expectancy.
This special extension will provide existing families with extra days of care and enable their excellent Children's Hospice to extend that support to some of the 900 families in our area.
Last year Area 2 donated over £2,000 to The New Children's Hospital Appeal., showing that Ladies Circle really can make a difference.

Francis House are having an open day the 8th of November, which Charlotte will be attending, and hopes to see other circlers there too. Please contact Charlotte if you would like to come, as we have to let them know. Unfortunately this is the same day as bonfire but it should be possible though as it opens at around 11am.
Children's Cancer Awareness Month - December
The KIDSCAN Children's Cancer Research Centre was set up at the University of Salford, just over 5 years ago in order to research into new drugs for the treatment of childhood cancers. This research receives no government funding-it is funded purely by contributions from businesses, the public and events organised through the fundraising team.
We are the only cancer research centre, which researches into cures for specifically childhood cancers.
In spite of much progress in the diagnosis and treatment of children with cancer the disease remains a major cause of death in children.
Indeed cancer and accidents are the most common causes of death in children up to the age of 14.
The risk of developing cancer in childhood is approximately 1 in 500 accounting for some 1500 new cases per year in the UK. The causes of cancer in children are not fully understood and are difficult to identify, particularly as some cancers develop before birth.
The work carried out within the KIDSCAN laboratories covers a range of activities from basic research into new treatments through to applied research focused on improving the outcome of therapies currently used in the treatment of children with cancer.
Every season has its colour and this winter, that colour is PURPLE. From lavender to violet, vibrant or subtle, purple is this season's and KIDSCAN's Corporate colour. KIDSCAN is launching a PURPLE POUND APPEAL for the month of December in aid of Children's Cancer Awareness Month.
We're encouraging offices, businesses, schools and the public to go purple and donate a pound! Purple clothes, purple finger nails, purple everything!
We were hoping that the Ladies Circle might like to join us with this appeal and raise awareness of Children's Cancer.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
