Haiti Earthquake Appeal
Emma Easter and Melanie Barratt from Kenilworth Ladies Circle have arranged a Girlie Night to raise funds for the Haiti Earthquake Appeal on Tuesday 23rd February at Leek Wootton Village Hall from 7.30pm and was wondering if you might be interested in coming along or be able help publicise the event by passing on the poster to friends or putting one up at work! Contact emmaeaster@yahoo.co.uk

Melanie and Emma were really moved by the plight of the millions left homeless after this natural disaster and wanted to do something to help, so they came up with this idea.

"We've planned a fantastic night packed with local shopping opportunities, including The Little Clothes Horse, Phoenix Cards, Jamie at Home, Miglio Jewellery, cupcakes, books and more. There will be mini beauty treatments from Th-e-den in Leek Wootton, and an amazing charity auction and raffle, with prizes including a weeks' family pass to The Warwickshire, a dinner voucher for The Almanack, free ironing and a deluxe hair and beauty package from Th-e-den Hair and Beauty, a swimming lesson with an Olympic gold medallist, plus many others!"

Tickets cost £6 on the door. The price includes a glass of bubbly and nibbles.

Please come along - and bring a friend.

Haiti Earthquake Appeal More help needed

We urgently need your help. We are looking for volunteers to help coordinate collections at Tesco stores and make the most of this great opportunity. We would greatly appreciate your help in promoting this opportunity to local Ladies' Circles across the country. Our local fundraisers will be able to supply volunteers with DEC collection buckets, letters of authority and further information on the Appeal.

What we'd like to ask groups to do is to get in touch with local British Red Cross fundraisers by calling 0844 412 2811 or emailing getfundraising@redcross.org.uk providing information on the area the group would like to collect and when they are available.

Dave ‘Sharky’ Barker Presidential Ball will be held on Saturday 6th March 2010 at the Racecourse in Chester.

The City of Chester offers one of the best venues in the UK for a city break, combining its unique history and character with the best quality of sightseeing and shopping in the North West. Our chosen hotel has been exclusively reserved. It is located next to the racecourse, central to Chester, and with free parking for the whole weekend for those attending the event.

Add to this the promise of a quality night of entertainment and we are confident this will prove to be a real night to remember.

To provide a great end to your weekend, we have arranged a limited number of privileged places at the unique and impressive ‘1539 Restaurant’ with views of the Racecourse for Sunday lunch and all this for only £12.50 per person.

We have taken the liberty of attaching a booking form and may we also highlight that there is a 10% discount on both the Ball AND Hotel but this ends on 31st Jan. 2010. Details can also be found on www.thesharkstable.org.uk/ball

If you have any questions, please contact Jackie Hampton, our Presidential Ball Convenor, at ball@thesharkstable.org.uk or on 01189 776487.

We can promise you a fantastic event with a few surprises along the way and we really look forward to seeing you there.

Charity Fundraising Information for National Ladies Circle HQ

Hello Circlers,

At the moment we only know how much Circles raise when it’s filled in on the Annual Return form, the last section asks how much has been raised in the previous circle year.

This information isn’t then collated till after the AGM in May so it never gets announced. While Circles are nominated for fundraising events and get mentioned, even win trophies, along with CRUK and Presidential Charity totals, this is only a small amount in the total monies raised by NALC for local charities.

I would like to start getting feedback throughout the year, so every time you raise money at an event i.e. speaker night or raffle etc send an email and let me know.

This way we can give updates out at the September and February Council meeting and more importantly at the AGM in May.

If you have any questions please contact me at charities@ladies-circle.org.uk

We would like to know the following details:
Circle Name
Circle Number
Area Number
Amount Raised
Benefitting Charity
Event Details

Please send this information to charities@ladies-circle.org.uk

Scatter Invitations.

Scatter? The idea is that we take the chance to meet up with other circles in Area 2 and extend our friendship.
All welcome.

FEBRUARY 2010 COUNCIL MEETING

Fancy joining us for the February Council meeting near Milton Keynes on the 27th February 2010?

We’re getting together on the Friday evening for dinner and no doubt a few drinks before the real business of the council meeting starts on the Saturday morning. This is an ideal way of finding out what’s going on locally, nationally and internationally in Circle and to have your say.

The 24 hour day delegate rate is only £60 (or £40 if you're an area chairman / representative as your area pays the balance). This includes your dinner, B & B and lunch during the meeting. Or if you live locally why not just come along to the meeting on the day. It’s at the De Vere Harben House, Tickford Street, Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire, MK16 9EY.

Full details and booking forms are available on the website (the links are below but you will need to be logged in to access them. The reports for this Council Meeting will be uploaded before the New Year and your Area Chairman will be notified when they have been uploaded.

Another 4 weeks and Christmas and New Year will be a memory, instead it becomes the time of year when you start to see ladies out walking and jogging in groups as they prepare for CRUK Race for Life season. Remember this year we won’t be sending your Area Chairman details of your local race events, you need to go to the www.raceforlife.org website and find your race event and fill in the online volunteer registration form.
